Community Life Coaches Speak at Zonta International Local Club Meeting

Chris and Carol Green answer questions about Life Coaching at Zonta Club meeting

Harrisburg, PA  ----Community Life Coaches, Chris and Carol Green, were the guest speakers of the November session of the local Zonta International Club. Carol was the main speaker while Chris handled the visual aspects of the presentation.

The Greens were invited to speak at the November session by its President, Elaine Weinert, having been recommended by the executive director of the Shalom House Women's Shelter, Denise Britton. The Greens have been providing life coaching support for the staff and residents of Shalom House since January of 2016.

"We had an amazing session with the Zonta Club of Harrisburg-Hershey," Carol commented. "The Club's president, Elaine Weinert, welcomed us with open arms and set the stage for us to express our passion for life coaching in under-served communities."

Speaking from the title 'It's All About Life Coaching', Carol chronicled the couple's lives as Life Coaches, dating back to the 1990's when they were youth leaders in St. Louis, Mo.  She built the journey around their experiences with four women: Tiffany, Carlette, Traci and Mary (Carol's mother).

Then she carried the audience through their work with Pennsylvania Career Link and Shalom House Women's Shelter.  Afterwards, Chris joined her at the podium to answer questions about the finer points of Life Coaching, explaining how they differ from other models in their CARE-Ready Leadership approach and strategy.

"This was a wonderful evening with the awesome women of Zonta International", stated Chris Green, "They are working diligently to empower women and children all over the world. They support the efforts of Shalom House, which means they have been supporting our work there as well."

As the world's leading producers of CARE-Ready Leadership Life Coaches, Chris and Carol Green connect with community & government leaders, human service organizers, business visionaries, and neighborhood dreamers. They LISTEN to people, LIFT people and LAUNCH people. Then they train, equip and empower them to do the same for others.

While most programs teach life coaches how to target potential high-paying affluent clients, and high-paying speaking opportunities, they train, equip and empower specialized Care-Ready Responders and Leadership Life Coaches, who are willing to take on the most often overlooked people of society, who live in under-served communities, who can least afford, but can benefit the most from professional guidance.

Community Life Coaches Train Mentors Within Organization That Works with Ex-Offenders and Recovering Addicts

Harrisburg, PA ---Chris and Carol Green continued their latest efforts to produce more CARE-Ready Leadership Life Coaches as they launched a new life coaching certificate class at Sound Community Solutions, Inc.

Also known as SCS, this organization was founded by Mr. Vladimir Beaufils (pronounced Bo - fees), who is an ex-drug addict who spent 4 years in prison due to his addictions. Upon release from prison, he found himself in Harrisburg, PA in 1993, where he started a miraculous journey in the world of human service. He founded SCS and has since produced an army of mentors who help others who, like him, are ex-offenders or recovering addicts.

"Vladimir Beaufils is a name that is synonymous with success, integrity, professionalism, and outstanding results based on evidence-based and proven practices," stated Coach Chris Green.

"We came across his radar at a time when he was looking to improve and add more to the training that he provides for his mentors and staff. We are extremely honored and humbled that he chose us, and trusted us to train his people in life coaching."

The mentors in this first class for SCS are far from being novice in human service. Most have been involved at some level in the field for 15, 20 and 25 years. Therefore, the Green's approach to introducing life coaching at SCS is that they aren't providing new information, but simply a new or fresh way to work with people.

The first session with the Greens always features the establishment of the foundational principles and beliefs upon which the entire coaching program is built.

"At the end of tonight's class," explains Coach Carol "we asked for 'take-aways' from each student. The response was remarkable as each mentor revealed that they were greatly impacted in the first session. We can hardly wait to begin giving them the tools that they will add to their already well-packed toolkits."

Community Life Coaches Present Care-Ready Responder Concept

Harrisburg, PA ---- The Community Conversation on Homelessness hosted Drs. Chris and Carol Green as the featured presenters of the Community Care-Ready Responder Overview.

Conducted in the conference room of the Rock Church in Harrisburg, 16 people, representing organizations, agencies, charities, government services and churches who address human service issues from perspectives that range from education and housing, to mental wellness and trauma, gathered to learn more about the Green's concept of providing an orientation for people who desire to enter the human service field, but have no idea what that requires in the way of understanding diverse cultures and people groups.

"We realize these professionals don't need to be told how to do their jobs," explains Chris Green. "These sessions are not conducted as best practice presentations regarding their policies and procedures. We're talking about matters of the heart when it comes to connecting with people. This is all about helping every individual and leader, within the field of human service, make self examination and self discovery into the hidden or unspoken challenges that are keeping their organizations and agencies in the frustrating cycles where the outcome of most of their activities and programs are not improving."

The discussion was lively and engaging as the Greens introduced the concept of helping staffers and volunteers, within their organizations, learn how to work past the inner cultural limitations that keep them from becoming more effective helpers and ready responders in the community.

"The meeting has resulted in a request for us  to provide evening classes for these leaders and their staffers," Dr. Carol revealed. "So we're working to make that happen ASAP!"

Community Life Coaches Commission Homeless Shelter's First 'Life Success' Coaches

Harrisburg, PA ---- Community Life Coaches, Chris and Carol Green commissioned the Shalom House Women Shelter's first 'Life Success' Coaches through their Leadership Life Coach Certificate Program.

"All of these women diligently worked to obtain this certificate," Chris and Carol Green shared. "The class consisted of 7 members of the Shalom House Women's shelter staff and one member of the Shalom House Board of Directors."

In 2018, the Shalom House Women's Shelter committed to having its entire staff become Life Success Coaches. With the official certificates conferred upon this first class in a ceremony at The Rock Church in Harrisburg, PA, Shalom House took a giant step toward fulfilling that goal.

The CARE-Ready Leadership Life Coach Certificate Program, administered by Fruitful Life Network and United Graduate College Seminary International, is accredited by the United Association of Christian Churches and Ministries International (founded in 1975).

Shalom House was established in 1986 by a Catholic nun, Sister Patricia Brennan. This urban-centered women's shelter had at the core of its mission, to get women and children, experiencing homelessness, off the streets and housed in a safe, home-like environment.  Yet, the heart of the mission was about much more – the more being to put an end to the cycle of homelessness in the lives of women and children in our community.

Shalom House continues to provide emergency, transitional and permanent housing for homeless women and children with nowhere else to go. For many years this was the primary mission, adding the provision of basic needs (assistance with a bed, food, clothing, and access to community programs and services to address the unique challenges a woman and children may be facing).

Today, however, Shalom House’s primary objective is transformational housing. For women and children experiencing homelessness, the goal is the gift of hope: hope for a transformed independent and sustainable life, which includes, but is not limited to a transition to stable housing.

"In conjunction with partner organizations," explains Executive Director Denise Britton, "we help residents achieve the six vital linchpins of life: family health, financial health, social health, spiritual health, physical health, and mental health.

"These partnerships allow “wrap around” services and support, personally designed for each woman and/or child. Lastly, partnerships leverage our results and dramatically improve what we can do alone."

A key to moving closer to more lives transformed to long term independence, was Shalom House's incorporation Chris and Carol Green's Life Coaching into their service delivery protocols.

"Life coaching casts a forward-looking vision," Britton contends. "The tone and character of conversations are respectful, regarding the client as being capable, resourceful, and whole. Coaches find that optimal solutions are within the clients themselves. The coach follows the client's agenda, helping her discover her own value, purpose and goals."

Life coaching is based on 1:1 relationship-building with an agreed upon a set of deliverables.  The primary deliverable is a life plan that the client can use to improve her life and achieve her long term goals.  The emphasis is on the coaching relationship, building trust, and opening doors of positive exploration for what a life can truly be … unencumbered and confident.

"The coaching component also incorporates a personal reflection for the coach / mentor, to assess any areas of needed growth in their own life," Britton concludes.  "For truly, no one can lead another further than their own level of growth and competency.  If transformation is the real objective; real plans for interrupting any barriers within the agency itself must be identified, and addressed."

For Shalom House, Life Coaching has been a critical component to removing barriers and opening the doors to transformation wider than ever before.
